Me and My Tree Peony
For one night only, this tree peony is my beautiful companion. It won’t likely last much longer. The lovely Julia Lojo of Bloomies gifted her delicateness to me.

GOTV
Today’s the day. Get Out The Vote. Or DPTPRR: Don’t Prove Those Pesky Republicans Right.
There are a lot of propositions on the California ballot in addition to the partisan races for house, senate, and governor. Two guides I’ve consulted are from Living in the O and the always comical, always endearing Good Jobbbb (the online journal of success).
Let’s do this people.

New Discovery
Sanbittèr. Thank you Zuni Café. I live in the land of “mocktails” these days (generally not a happy place to be), and Sanbittèr has seriously upped the ante on my enjoyment. I’ve ordered a case for the house. It tastes just like Campari but without the alcohol. Very soothing, and very fooling; you really feel like you’re having a real drink. Almost.

The viral ad for Sanbittèr from 2009. Those crazy Italians. I like the opening shot best.

Desert Pictures
Ian took these and I love them.

I think the headlights one is my favorite, though I’d like to be standing in the sun by that building.

Recently
I generally hate making excuses for not blogging, but it really has been a doozy of a couple months. I’ve been sort of camera-less too…but enough with the excuses.
Sometimes just a few stems can brighten your day. I’m obsessed with this hydrangea. It’s totally psychedelic.

From dark and vibrant:

To light and airy:

Noteworthy
Plum, Daniel Patterson’s (of Coi fame) highly anticipated Oakland outpost will open Wednesday September 29th! And you can already make reservations. And the meal won’t cost as much as your mortgage. (Sorry Coi, I’m sure you’re worth it, I’ll make it to you one of these days) I got a reservation for Plum next week and I can’t wait.
This is pure genius. LOVE the promotional photographs:

AND I tried Skylite Snowballs for the first time today and it was a transcendent experience! Check them out on Twitter and get to one of their locations ASAP. I highly recommend Tcho chocolate with the marshmallow cream, although classic strawberry is great too.

A Little Film
I love this little film about my friend filmmaker Begonia Coloma. It’s nice to be able to watch videos of your friends who are far away.
Even if HP is trying to advertise through them.

A Few Images From a Summer Concert on Governor's Island, NYC
A few weeks ago I got to see Gang Gang Dance, the Walkmen, and Grizzly Bear play a show at NYC’s newly revamped Governor’s Island. It was a lot of fun to go somewhere in NYC I’d never been, and the views were great.

A bit later, loving the light pollution:

Grizzly Bear’s performance of Showcase that night was just about the most rock n’ roll thing that ever happened to anyone of this generation. It was also seriously loud, thanks to the no DB limit on Governor’s Island. Check out Monica Yi’s video of it here:
